Learn about West Hollywood

West Hollywood is bordered on the north by the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, on the east by the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, on the south by the Fairfax district of Los Angeles, and on the west by the city of Beverly Hills.

The irregular border of the city, which is not very large in area, is highlighted in the city logo, and was largely formed from the unincorporated Los Angeles County area that had not become part of the surrounding cities.

West Hollywood benefits from a very dense, compact urban form with small lots, a mix of land uses, and a walkable street grid. Commercial corridors include the nightlife and dining focused on the Sunset Strip, along Santa Monica Boulevard, and the Avenues of Art & Design along Robertson, Melrose, and Beverlynear the Pacific Design Center.

Residential neighborhoods in West Hollywood include the Norma Triangle, West Hollywood North, West Hollywood West, West Hollywood East, and West Hollywood Heights, all of which are only a few blocks long or wide. Major intersecting streets typically provide amenities within walking distance of adjacent neighborhoods.

Some of my favorite places in West Hollywood are:

Cecconis -  8764 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Great spot for Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and Happy Hour. Great and affordable food with very nice patio. Easy to park and to make reservations.

EP LP - 603 N La Cienega Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Good place for drinks at night and on weekends. Easy to get in and the roof top works well with the LA weather.

Pearls - Liquor Bar - 8909 Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Nice roof top with good food. They have movie nights and different events throughout the week.

BOA Steakhouse - 9200 Sunset Blvd #650, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Great steaks and food overall. Nice ambiance and good crowd. Also good fro drinks.

The Nice Guy - 401 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048

Hot spot for dinner and drinks. Hard to get in and even harder to get reservations. Gets very busy on weekends.

Ysabel - 945 N Fairfax Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90046

One of my favorites, walking distance from my place. Hard to get reservations, but not too hard to get in for a drink at the bar. Like The Nice Guy this restaurant is more like a lounge club and they even have a doorman. Ask for the extra steak menu.

Craigs - 8826 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Another hot spot serving Italian food. Very small and hard to get reservations. Pretty crowded all week.

Erewhon - 7660 Beverly Blvd A, Los Angeles, CA 90036

Great for groceries and healthy snacks. I usually buy my food for the week there. Really crowded at lunch time, so if you want to shop go on a  different time.
